Glass beads are beads of various size which provide excellent light-reflection. They are used for dropping onto horizontal marking material to increase visibility at night hours. To increase antiskid properties, mixtures of glass beads and antiskid materials are used. Glass beads and their mixtures with grit are dropped onto marking surface applied with paint, cold plastic and thermoplastic.

Not all glass beads have the same properties, they differ from each other in size, number of rejected beads that do not reflect light, presence or absence of coating with certain properties.
